The Ornish Youth Choir is a wonderful and educational program that is a part of the curriculum of the Weitzman Family Religious School for all 3rd through 6th grade students. Day-School students are also invited to attend to enjoy the social aspect as well as the educational aspect of this program. In 2016-2017 the students are learning the Friday night services. The goals for the program are:

  1. Strengthening Hebrew reading
  2. Teaching students a fun way of davening
  3. Familiarizing them with the congregational melodies
  4. Enhancing singing skills
  5. Working on leadership skills
  6. Instilling in them a love for Jewish music

The choir is a great program for young people to prepare for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah. They become more comfortable on the Bimah and develop better knowledge of Hebrew and other skills important for B’nei Mitzvah preparation. Rehearsals are held during Religious School hours from 9:30 am to 10:00 am in Sablosky Chapel when religious school is in session. If your child is interested in joining the youth choir, please contact Cantor Zhrebker or Sandi Burt at (214) 939.7315.
