SISterhoodSISterhood is a multi-generational group of dynamic women who combine innovative programming and Jewish traditions.

In addition to offering special interest groups such as Book Club and Yarn Yentas, SISterhood lovingly provides vital support to our Shul Community.

SISterhood’s commitment is a generous and vital tradition of RUACH:

Reaching out to all synagogue members to create a feeling of

belonging within the Shearith Israel community;

Uniting women through study, prayer, community service,

and social activities;

Addressing issues of interest to women;

Continuing to foster love for and knowledge of Judaism

and Israel in the home and the community;

Helping support the synagogue and the Torah Fund.

School and Youth Programs

  • Offering a one-time stipend of up to $750/child for organized trips to Israel
  • Providing holiday treats to Religious School students at Rosh Hashanah, Hanukkah, Tu B’Shvat and Pesach
  • Supporting the Family Center
  • Providing scholarships to attend USY conventions
  • Providing Consecration, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, Confirmation gifts to our students
  • Support College Connection
  • Providing gifts to each Tiny Treasure infant

Synagogue and Community Endeavors

  • Providing gifts to each Tiny Treasure infant
  • Investing annually in kitchen improvements
  • Purchasing High Holy Day and Pesach gifts for our Klei Kodesh
  • Sponsoring Shabbat and celebratory Kiddush luncheons
  • Underwriting Break the Fast on Yom Kippur
  • Providing fruit for the spring Sandwich Drive
  • Supporting  Levine Academy and Mazon
