sandwichesHunger in our community is simply unacceptable! Beyond the canned food drive our generous community just completed for the JFS Food Pantry, here is an other way your family can help spread God’s love and deliver real help to the less fortunate among us:

What you can do:
  • Make 25 sandwiches with your children and send individual baggies veggies, cookies and chips (guidelines for all items are below). Drop items at Shearith.   AND/OR
  • Help us at Shearith on Thursday morning, October 29th,  between 7:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to collect sandwiches.

Available Shifts are:

  • 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
  • 9:00 a.m.- 10:30 a.m.
  • 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.   AND/OR
  • Help serve sandwiches at Austin Street Shelter starting at 5:30 p.m.   Older children (9+) are invited to attend.
Food Guidelines:
Please make 25 sandwiches (two loaves of bread) and send individually wrapped bags of veggies, cookies or chips. PB&J, egg salad, tuna salad, chicken salad, turkey and salami are favorites for the sandwiches. Please wrap each sandwich in a ziplock bag and mark with the contents (including dressing). Note: Sandwiches DO NOT need to be kosher since they are not being served at Shearith.
Other Items:
In the case you’d like to pitch in but cannot make sandwiches, the shelter is always in need of the following staples: cleaning products, coffee, sugar, creamer, paper products and personal hygiene products.
Drop Off:
All items can be dropped at Shearith’s North entrance by the playground (entrance next to the Toll Road). Please deliver between 7:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. If you live north, you may also drop them at the home of Carol & Harold Pinker 7014 Dartbrook, 75254 during this time.
For more information, please contact Carol Pinker or Rabbi Adam Roffman.
