The SISterhood
of Congregation Shearith Israel is open to all Jewish women. We are affiliated
with the Women’s League for Conservative Judaism and are part of
the newly formed IntraContinental Region. The purpose of our organization
is best expressed through our Mission Statement, R.U.A.C.H:
R: Reach out to all members to create a feeling
of belonging
U: Unite women through study, prayer, community
service and social activities
A: Address
issues of interest to women
C: Continue to foster knowledge of Israel
and Judaism in the home and community
H: Help support the Synagogue and Torah Fund
To fulfill our mission, we schedule a number of exciting and innovative
programs on a variety of topics relavent to all women. Our membership
is comprised of a multigenerational population who differ in age, marital
status, and occupations. You can become acquainted with some of our members
by viewing SISterhood Spotlight. In
consideration of all members, we offer both day and evening activities
(please click on the Event Calendar Link). Additionally, we invite you
to participate in one of our Special Interest Groups (SIG). These are
small clusters designed to provide an opportunity for women to share a
common interest with other SISterhood members in a more intimate setting.
Some of our groups include: Adult Education, Bridge, Mah Jongg, Movies,
and Senior Sisters. For details, click on the

SISterhood is proud of the many ways we are able to support the synagogue.
This is possible as a result of several fundraising efforts, but primarily
through our High Holiday Booklet and the annual Major
Fundraising Event. With the monies raised, SISterhood makes some
major purchases for our congregation as well as offers tremendous support
to our youth in the Religious School. Please view the Fundraising

Our newly renovated Judaica Shop, The Gallery,
is conveniently located within the synagogue. Just down the mail hall
from the beautiful Beck Sanctuary, The Gallery carries
a large selection of Judaica and giftware items, all reasonably priced
and easily accessible to our congregants. For store hours and specific

As members of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism,
we are invited to contribute to Torah Fund. This fund supports the institutions
of the Conservative Movement to ensure future rabbis, cantors and educators.
Although our promotion runs throughout the year, we culminate the campaign
by hosting a special annual event where we pay tribute to a designated
honoree within our shul. To learn more about Torah

SISterhood is constantly striving to grow and improve as an organization.
We always welcome new members and encourage your involvement, contribution,
and input by volunteering your time and enthusiasm. To learn about ways
